energy management & environmental control

Early generation building management systems focussed on ensuring that environments were maintained at comfortable levels. With energy prices rising and increasing pressure to reduce CO² emissions the focus has shifted to maintaining environments at appropriate levels whilst utilising the latest technology to automate cost and carbon footprint reductions.

MDC offer a complete in-house solution for energy management and environmental control.
Typically there will be a number of stages as follows:

This is the starting point for any Controls programme. Our engineers will undertake a full review of your business premises in line with your business objectives and budget. Typically we will review current processes, equipment and systems deployed together with analysing current energy usage patterns. A costed report will outline options and key strategies for reducing energy consumption whilst maintaining the building environment within defined parameters.

Following development of a brief and agreed specification, our project engineers produce a detailed control systems design utilising energy efficient control strategies. This stage includes detailed control panel designs utilising the latest CAD technology. Software to support the strategies is developed in-house by our team of software programmers.

Our Control panels are built at our in-house workshop by an experienced team of Controls Engineers. Each panel is tailored to the appropriate specification, size and complexity. We utilise components from a range of leading global manufacturers enabling us to offer flexible but tried and tested solutions. All Panels are manufactured in line with the latest electrical regulations and are fully tested before leaving the workshop.

MDC offer a full range of electrical installation services for non-residential buildings. Our Electrical technicians are highly experienced in a range of different buildings including offices, shops and factories and across a broad range of building management systems. We are NIC EIC and Safe Contractor approved.
Once installation is complete our Commissioning service will ensure that all electrical and other building services are installed, tested and performing in line with the systems design. At conclusion of the process we will issue a full set of technical information, control panel diagrams, circuit wiring and test certificates.

On-going measurement and optimisation of energy usage is a critical and often neglected phase of the energy management process. MDC utilises metering data and user friendly graphical interfaces to deliver management information on the performance of the energy management systems and strategies being deployed. This can be developed for operation by the customer or can be remotely monitored by MDC utilising web based technology. The information produced enables calculation of energy savings together with the basis for on-going optimisation of the energy saving strategies.
